Alabama State University is a regional, comprehensive, state-supported institution of higher learning dedicated to education, research and service. Founded in 1867 by nine former slaves, the University has grown from a small teaching training school to a vibrant, thriving institution offering 48 academic programs and bachelors, masters, education specialists and doctoral degrees.
