Game 5: Mississippi Valley State Gets 3-0 Win Over Southern

Final stats

With a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20) win over Southern, Mississippi Valley State avoids elimination and stays alive to take on the loser of the Prairie View A&M/Alabama A&M match this evening.

All-Eastern outside hitter Kantessa Bryant led the Devilettes with 10 kills while Brychana Williams and Maura Moed each added eight kills. Jane Peterson nabbed a game-high 13 digs.

Southern's All-Western outside hitter Candace Southall etched 12 kills and nine digs for the Lady Jaguars. With the loss, SU is eliminated from the tournament.

Game 6: Texas Southern Edges Alabama State 3-2

Final stats

In a hard-fought battle that went the distance, Texas Southern escaped with a 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 26-28, 25-20, 15-6) win over Alabama State to remain in tournament play.

Jerlessa King had 17 kills and eight digs for the Lady Tigers. Emma Obi added 13 kills while Ashlee Cooper posted 11 in the win.

Sierra Caudle led the way for Alabama State with 15 kills. Setter Anna Meinert had a game-high 37 assists.

With the win Texas Southern is slated to play the loser of the Jackson State/Grambling State match this evening. Alabama State is eliminated from the tournament with its loss.

Game 7: Alabama A&M Advances Pass Prairie View A&M 3-1

Final stats

With a 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-16, 25-19) victory over Prairie View A&M, Alabama A&M claimed a spot in the semi-finals round of the SWAC tournament on Sunday.

Karensa Beckford contributed 17 kills for the Bulldogs while Clarissa Moore registered 15 kills and seven digs. Natalie Rodriguez had 50 assists and Rose Corneille logged 16 digs to help secure the victory.

For the Lady Panthers, Shaun Williams and Sharonda Marshall each had 12 kills while Sapphire Reid and Cheri Lindsay tallied 10 apiece.

On Sunday, Alabama A&M will face the winner of the Prairie View A&M/Mississippi Valley State match.

Game 8: Grambling State Heads to Semifinal with 3-1 Win over Jackson State

Final stats

Grambling State solidified a place in Sunday's semifinals with a 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 19-25, 25-14) victory over Jackson State.

Ashley Cooper amassed 13 kills for GSU while Shawonna Davis and Kayla Williams each added 11 kills in the win. Michelle Ovana put up a game-high 23 digs for the Lady Tigers, who will face the winner of the Jackson State/Texas Southern match in Sunday's semifinals.

Jackson State was led by Ebonee Dawson with 14 kills.
