Game 3: Alabama A&M Upends Southern 3-0

Final stats

2009 Freshman of the Year Clarissa Moore amassed 17 kills as Alabama A&M defeated Southern 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-13) to advance in the winner's bracket to take on Prairie View A&M this afternoon.

All-SWAC setter Natalie Rodriguez had 37 assists while Libero of Year Rose Corneille posted 13 digs for the Bulldogs.

LaCreesha Allan was the high-woman for the Lady Jaguars, posting nine kills in the match. All-Western outside hitter Candace Southall added 12 digs for SU.

The Lady Jaguars will face Mississippi Valley State in the loser's bracket this afternoon.

Game 4: Grambling State Overcomes Alabama State, 3-1

Final stats

Three Lady Tigers posted double-digit kills totals as Grambling State advanced past Alabama State 3-1 (25-15, 25-12, 26-24, 25-16).

Kendra Johnson led the way for GSU with 16 kills. Showanna Davis and Kayla Williams added 14 and 10 kills, respectively. All-Western setter DaVarika Johnson hoisted 45 assists for Grambling State while Michelle Ovana tallied 14 digs.

All-Eastern middle blocker Jessica Holt led the Lady Hornets with 15 kills. Roselande Corneille recorded a game-high 20 digs.

With the win GSU advances to take on Jackson State in the winner's bracket this afternoon. With the loss Alabama State will face Texas Southern in the loser's bracket.
