SWAC VOLLEYBALL AND SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

VOLLEYBALL

OFFENSIVE

OH Kayla Williams, Grambling State; 5-10, SR; Toronto, Canada

Williams amassed 19 kills, 19 digs, four blocks, four assists, and two service aces as her Lady Tigers posted two divisional wins over Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M last week.

Williams is currently third in the conference in kills, averaging 2.81 per game.

DEFENSIVE

L Lourena Beathley, Southern; 5-4, JR; Baton Rouge, LA

Beathley tallied 18 digs in a single match last week as the Lady Jaguars defeated divisional foe Arkansas-Pine Bluff in three sets.

Beathley averages a team-best 2.41 digs per game.

NEWCOMER

OH Sierra Caudle, Alabama State; 5-7, JR; Athens, AL

In two matches last week, Caudle registered 18 kills, 10 digs, and four service aces.

The junior transfer's efforts helped the Lady Hornets nab two victories, including a divisional win over Alcorn State.

SOCCER

OFFENSIVE

F Ashley Garcia, Texas Southern; 5-6, SO; Houston, TX

Garcia scored three goals while recording four shots and four shots on goal in three matches last week.

Garcia scored the Lady Tigers' only goal against Texas-San Antonio and had two goals in TSU's first win ever over Alabama A&M.

DEFENSIVE

D Dominique Denmark, Grambling State; 5-4, FR; Palm Bay, FL

Denmark spearheaded a Lady Tigers' defense that pitched a 2-0 shutout over divisional and in-state rival Southern last week.

The win was the third for GSU this season and its first divisional victory.

GOALKEEPER

GK Cherie Silas, Grambling State; 5-9, SR; Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Silas held Southern scoreless while registering three saves in 90:00 minutes of play.

The shutout was Silas' second of the season. She's currently second in the SWAC in saves, averaging 9.50 a game.
