SWAC SOCCER AND VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
SOCCER
OFFENSIVE
F Ashley Baker, Grambling State; 5-5, JR; El Paso, TX
Baker scored two goals last week including a game-winning goal that lifted the Lady Tigers past Northwestern State 2-1.
Baker's other goal came in GSU's 2-2 tie versus Lamar University.
DEFENSIVE
D Rachel Harker, Univ. of Arkansas-Pine Bluff; 5-7, SO; Burnaby, B.C.
Harker was key in a Lady Lions' defense that recorded 27 saves in three matches, including a 1-1 tie versus Louisiana-Monroe.
Harker also had one goal and an assist in a match against Centenary last week.
GOALKEEPER
GK Allison Lane, Jackson State; 5-7, JR; Marlton, NJ
Lane helped the Lady Tigers pitch a shutout last week as the team took down Nicholls State 3-0.
Lane and her J-State teammates tallied 10 saves in the match. Lane is currently ranked third in the SWAC in save percentage (.829) and fourth in goals against average (2.15).
VOLLEYBALL
OFFENSIVE
MH Maura Moed, Mississippi Valley State; 5-9, JR; San Antonio, TX
Moed recorded 43 kills, 16 blocks, 14 service aces, and nine digs to assist her Devilettes' squad in four wins last week.
Moed is currently ranked first in the conference in hitting percentage (.311) and service aces (0.55 per game), while ranking second in kills (2.79 per game).
DEFENSIVE
DS Roselande Corneille, Alabama State; 5-7, FR; Dacula, GA
Corneille registered 43 digs in four matches last weekend including a win over Alcorn State.
Corneille also had three service aces and three kills for the week. She is presently ranked fourth in the SWAC in digs, averaging 3.16 per game.
NEWCOMER
OH Lonnie Hoff, Mississippi Valley State; 5-8, JR; Standard, Alberta
In four matches, Hoff tallied 34 kills, 17 digs, seven blocks, and three service aces.
Hoff's efforts assisted MVSU in sweeping its annual volleyball classic last weekend, while also picking up a divisional win over Alabama State.
