VOLLEYBALL
OFFENSIVE
RS Karensa Beckford, Alabama A&M; 6-0, SO; St. Anne Bay, Jamaica
Beckford registered 28 kills, 12 digs, three service aces, and a block in just 10 sets last week. She had an impressive .500 hitting percentage versus S.C. State while posting a .471 hitting percentage versus Bethune-Cookman.
Beckford helped her Bulldogs squad sweep the Alabama State Invitational over the weekend, going 3-0 for the tournament.
DEFENSIVE
MB/OH Shonese Evans, Mississippi Valley State; 5-7, JR; Schriever, Louisiana
Evans amassed 48 kills, 16 total blocks, 11 digs and five services aces as her Devilettes team went 2-2 last weekend.
Evans currently leads her team in blocks with 33 for the season.
NEWCOMER
OH Lonnie Hoff, Mississippi Valley State; 5-8, JR; Standard, Alberta
Hoff recorded 36 kills, 26 digs, three service aces and two blocks to help MVSU post two wins last weekend including a divisional win over Alabama State.
The junior transfer is presently ranked second on her team in kills (2.14 per game) and has helped guide the Devilettes to a conference-best 5-4, 1-0 record.
SOCCER
OFFENSIVE
F Angelica Diaz, Prairie View A&M; 5-9, JR; Houston, TX
Diaz scored her first goal of the season while lifting her Lady Panthers team to a 1-0 win over North Texas last week.
Diaz's game-winning goal was her only shot of the match.
DEFENSIVE
D Joelle Gibson, Jackson State; 5-4, JR; Frere Pilgrim, Barbados
Gibson assisted the Lady Tigers defense in holding Stetson to just one goal last week while only giving up two goals to Jacksonville State in a match that went into overtime.
Gibson helped anchor a J-State defense that recorded 12 saves in two matches last weekend.
GOALKEEPER
GK Pam Johnston, Mississippi Valley State; 5-9, FR; London, Ontario, Canada
In two games, Johnston tallied 21 saves including 14 against Centenary College and seven in a 1-1 tied match versus Troy.
Johnston is currently first in the SWAC in goals against average (1.35) and second in save percentage (.875).
