MVSU assistant Trena Peel

(Courtesy of MVSU Sports Information) - Mississippi Valley State assistant softball coach Trena Peel - currently playing for the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch League - will be one of four NPF all-stars who will participate in the 2009 Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game. The game is a part of the 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Weekend.

Peel will take to the field Sunday, July 12, 2009 at St. Louis's Busch Stadium, the site of the 2009 MLB All-Star Game.Also scheduled to appear in the game are music artists Ashanti, Chingy, Nelly and Ginuwine along with television personalities James Denton (Desperate Housewives), Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg (ESPN's Mike and Mike Show), Bob Knight (ESPN Basketball analyst and Hall of Fame coach), Shawn Johnson (Olympic Champion and Dancing with the Stars winner) and Billy Bob Thornton (Academy Award winner).

Peel just completed her first season with the Devilettes in which she was a key part of the program's sixth consecutive conference championship. She is currently featured on a vignette on the Philadelphia Force's website (www.philadelphiaforce.com).
