SWAC VOLLEYBALL AND SOCCER PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

VOLLEYBALL

OFFENSIVE

OH Kayla Williams, Grambling State; 5-10, SR; Toronto, Canada

Williams accumulated 40 kills, 42 digs, nine blocks, and seven service aces as the Lady Tigers posted three divisional wins last week.

Williams is currently ranked third in kills in the SWAC, averaging 2.69 per game. This is her second Player of the Week honor this season.

DEFENSIVE

DS/L Rose Corneille, Alabama A&M; 5-7, JR; Dacula, GA

Corneille logged 54 digs to help the Bulldogs register two divisional wins last week, while maintaining their #1 spot in the Eastern Division.

Corneille leads the SWAC with a 4.22 digs per game average. This is her third Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and second consecutive week.

NEWCOMER

OH/RS Clarissa Moore, Alabama A&M; 5-11, FR; Houston, TX

Moore tallied 35 kills, 15 digs, and four blocks in two wins last week. Moore posted 32 kills versus Jackson State, which ties her with Phyllis Hatie for the Alabama A&M record for kills in a match.

This is Moore's third Newcomer of the Week honor this season. She also was week one's Offensive Player of the week.

SOCCER

OFFENSIVE

F Shadein Mars, Jackson State; 5-2, JR; London, United Kingdom

Mars scored three goals and an assist to total seven points in two divisional wins for the Lady Tigers last week.

Mars is currently tied for first in the SWAC in goals (8) and leads the conference in goals per game (0.73) and points per game (1.64). This is Mars' second Player of the Week honor this season.

DEFENSIVE

D Bupe Okeowo, Jackson State; 5-8, FR; Dumfries, VA

Okeowo spearheaded a Lady Tigers' defense that pitched two shutouts last week and only allowed one shot in two divisional wins.

Okeowo's efforts have helped J-State post five consecutive shutouts, while also allowing the fewest goals (15) in the SWAC this season.

GOALKEEPER

GK Chelsea Klein, Arkansas-Pine Bluff; 5-11, FR; North Vancouver, Canada

Klein pitched an impressive four shutouts in a span of one week as the Lady Lions' went 4-0 last week.

Klein currently leads the SWAC in goals against average (0.82), save percentage (.892), and shutouts (6). This is Klein's second Goalkeeper of the Week honor this season.
