This Week in SWAC Soccer

• Let the Conference Games Begin
In week seven of the 2009 soccer season, all ten SWAC teams will be hitting the field in conference and cross-conference games.

• The Divisional Match-Ups
On Friday, Southern will face Grambling State in a western division showdown. GSU currently sits atop its division and is coming off a streak of two wins and a tie. Southern has struggled in the early season and will look to post its first victory of the year versus the Lady Tigers. SU will be back in action on Sunday when the squad takes on Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the other west divisional match-up of the weekend. Despite dropping its last two games, UAPB has recorded some impressive wins this season including a 2-1 upset of Arkansas State. In the east, Mississippi Valley State will battle Alcorn State in a Friday afternoon match. As the defending SWAC Champions, MVSU has yet to see a win thus far in 2009 but has managed a 1-1 tie versus Troy. Alcorn State is also winless for the season and will be looking to break a losing streak that stretches back to the 2008 season.
