JSU women strong at Southern Illinois indoor meet

CARBONDALE, IL - The Jackson State women's indoor track and field team opened the 2008 season with 14 top ten finishes Friday evening at the Southern Illinois Fast Start meet.

Amiria Holloman came in eighth place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.38 meters. Courtney Prentiss and Raina Sanders came in ninth and 10th place in the 60-meter dash with times of 7.84 and 7.93. JSU claimed sixth, seventh, and eighth place in the 60-meter hurdles. Toniece Williams was sixth (8.97), Marlisa Hamlett came in seventh (9.06) and Candace Frye was eighth (9.37). Raina Sanders finished seventh in the 200-meter dash (25.51). Tunisia Milner finished the one-mile run in fourth place (5:42.89). Alka Hamilton was fifth (5:45.62) and Brandy Liddell came in sixth (6:01.31).

Alka Hamilton claimed fifth place in the 800-meter run (2:28.91) and Tunisia Milner was sixth in the 600-meter run (1:43.40). Deonna Bailey came in 10th in the 400-meter dash (59:98).
