Southern Sweeps for the Second Consecutive Week

WOMEN'S

Mary Newton, Southern; 5-5, SO; Houston, TX

Newton had an exceptional outing for the Lady Jaguars last weekend. Competing in the Arkansas State Invitational, Newton placed second in the 400-meter run (58.24) and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed second (3:357.5) and the distance medley relay team that finished third (13:13.80).

Newton's efforts combined for 24 points while helping propel the Lady Jaguars to a fifth place finish at the meet.

MEN'S

Micah McCulloch, Southern; 5-9, FR; Russellville, AL

In just his second weekend of collegiate competition, McCulloch won the long jump event (7.10m) and placed second in the high jump (2.04m) at the ASU Invitational.

McCulloch's performances added 18 points to the Jaguars' effort, who finished sixth overall at the meet.
