JSU track post 14 Top 10 finishes in SIU Meet

CARBONDALE, IL - The Jackson State men’s indoor track and field team opened the 2008 season with 14 top ten finishes Friday evening at the Southern Illinois Fast Start meet. Allen Senegal finished in third place in the long jump with a distance of 7.19 meters. Jaumale Sykes and Justin Vance finished eighth and ninth in the 60 meter dash with times of 6.94 and 6.95 respectively. Wilbert Smith came in second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.25. Debodrick Walton and Louis Varella finished in fifth and seventh place in the 400-meter dash with times of 50.03 and 54.21. Bernard Lemymy finished fifth in the one-mile run (4:42.71) and Khador Kakuma came in sixth (4:46.84). Allen Senegal was fourth in the 600-meter run (1:22.43) and Jaumale Sykes and Debodrick Walton finished second and sixth in the 200-meter dash with times of 22.13 and 22.49. Kevin Itima finished fourth in the 800-meter run (1:55.93) and JSU’s 4x400 meter relay team came in third and sixth place respectively.
