SWAC Men’s Team Golf Champion Jackson State and individual Conference low medalist John Montgomery of Alabama State wrapped up three days of competition in the NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament.

Jackson State shot a combined 992 in the tournament (+58) in regional competition at the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, TX.  Clay Myers, who carded a hole-in-one during Friday’s competition, led the Tigers with score 13-over 241 (83-*74-*84).

ASU’s Montgomery competed at the Olde Stone Golf Club in Bowling Green, KY. He had a three-day total of 262 (85-90-87).

Myers had a hole-in-one on during the second day of competition during the 2009 NCAA Tournament in Austin, TX.

Playing on the eighth hole at the University of Texas Golf Club which was playing at 215 yards, Myers used a four-iron on his 17th hole of the day.

“It was 215 (yards)to the pin and the wind was blowing in my face,” Myers said. “My coach told me to hit my 3-iron because the previous player in my group did, and I said, 'No, coach, I think it's a 4-iron.' I stepped above it, hit the 4-iron and with the draw, it landed about four feet above the hole and went in. It was my first hole-in-one in a college tournament, and just my second ever.”
