JSU leads SWAC teams at Pizza Hut/AT&T Intercollegiate

CHOCTAW, MS – (courtesy JSU Sports Information) The Jackson State men's golf team shot a 307 to record the second lowest final round score, as the Tigers held on to the fourth place spot at the Pizza Hut/AT&T Intercollegiate at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course.
 
The Tigers finished with a final score of 629 (322, 307). Brett Benson finished the tournament tied for 13th place with a score of 156 (81, 75). Clay Myers tied for 16th place with a 157 (80, 77), Curtis Stanton and Michael Chappell tied for 18th with a 158. Stanton shot 82 and 76, while Chappell shot 79, 79 for the two day tournament. James Cox, Jr. finished
30th with a 164 (83, 81).
 
The North Alabama Lions won the tournament with a two day total of 595. The Lions had the top four individual players. David Gies, II received individual medalist honors with his low score of 146 (74, 72) two over par.
 
Tennessee-Martin finished second with a score of 618 (309, 309), Tennessee Tech was third with a 627 (308, 319), Lipscomb came in fifth with a 630 (322, 308), Centenary finished sixth with a 642 (332, 310), Tennessee State came in seventh place with a 645 (330, 315), Southern was eighth with a 715 (351, 364) and Alcorn State finished ninth with an 854 (435, 419).
