SWAC Football notebook
Four conference games, including a possible SWAC Championship Game preview, are on tap for the first Saturday of November.
Alabama A&M travels to Prairie View A&M in a battle of division leaders. The Bulldogs ended a two-game losing streak by posting their fifth concecutive win over Alabama State in the Magic City Classic. Prairie View A&M is coming off an open date and plays its first game since a 16-14 Thursday win at Southern on Oct. 22.
Grambling State plays Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the Delta Literacy Classic in Little Rock, AR in a battle of two teams looking to stay in the West race. The defending champion Tigers have won three games in a row and are coming off a big Homecoming win over Mississippi Valley State. UAPB is coming off a home loss to Southern.
Jackson State, tied for the East lead with Alabama A&M, returns from an open date and will celebrate homecoming this weekend when the Tigers face Alabama State. JSU posted a 25-16 road win over rival Mississippi Valley State on Oct. 24 to move into a first-place tie for the division lead. Alabama State will look to end a three-game losing streak in the series.
Texas Southern travels to Mississippi Valley State as the Tigers look to continue to stay in the hunt for the West title. TSU has won two in a row, including a 51-point outburst in its homecoming win over Alcorn State last week. The Delta Devils will look to end a four-game losing skid in its final home conference game of the season.
