The Alabama A&M volleyball team captured its seventh straight win on Tues. night against Jackson State with a four-set decision on ESPNU.
With the win, A&M captured the number one seed in the Eastern Division of the SWAC. The Bulldogs are currently riding an undefeated 6-0 conference streak. The Bulldogs are back in Elmore Gym on Thurs. as they host Alabama State beginning at 7 p.m.
AAMU defeated the Tigers in four sets (25-21, 12-25, 25-22, 25-22) with Clarissa Moore leading the attack. Moore finished with 15 kills, six digs, and four total blocks. Madinah Abdullah and Karensa Beckford had 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Junior Ebonee Dawson led the Lady Tigers with 18 kills and one service ace.
The Bulldogs will host Alabama State on Thurs. Nov. 5. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
Prairie View Climbs to #22 in National Football Poll
The Prairie View A&M University Panthers rose to 22nd in the Sports Network's FCS national college football poll.
Two weeks ago, after narrowly missing the Top 25 for several weeks, the Panthers debuted at No. 25. That ranking marked the first time in program history the Panthers were ranked during the season. Last season, the Panthers were ranked 25th in The Sports Network's final poll of the year.
In the weekly Sheridan Broadcast Network Black College Football Poll, Prairie View currently sits second behind the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University. Sheridan also ranks Grambling State fourth, Alabama A&M seventh and Southern ninth.
MVSU falls 92-87 in exhibition action
Final stats
ITTA BENA - The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils took to the court in exhibition action Tuesday night at the R.W. Harrison Complex. The Delta Devils fell 92-87 to the Wesley College Warriors.
For Wesley College, Derrius Nelson and Randy Perkins each had 24 points to lead the Warriors. Alessandro Norris added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.
For Miss. Valley State, Shannon Behling led the team with 22 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Ricky Lamb added 14 points and two assists while Jason Holmes tallied 13 points and five rebounds.
Wesley College jumped out early gaining a 13-2 lead in the first four minutes of action. The Warriors led 47-43 at halftime. The Delta Devils fought back gaining an eight-point lead midway through the second half, but a 23-14 second-half rebounding advantage by the Warriors was key in the final 20 minutes.
The Delta Devils will return to action Monday, November 9 as they host Stillman College.
