Jackson State senior Latoya Clark was named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth straight week. Two other Lady Tigers Chyna Coleman and Christine Edwards completed a JSU sweep of honors.
Clark, a 5-4 setter from Tallahassee, Fla., led the Lady Tigers to three more wins last week, extending the JSU streak to 14 games. Clark had 130 assists (11.82 a/ps) this week, along with 26 digs and one assisted block. Clark led all setters in every match, while earning 54 assists in a five set win over Alabama A&M. Clark was just shy of a double-double versus Alabama State with 39 assists and 10 digs.
Coleman earned her first Player of the Week honor as the league's top defender. The 5-8 senior outside hitter from Phoenix, Ariz. had 26 digs to go with 42 kills, seven service aces and two blocks during the week. Coleman notched two double-doubles, earning 20 kills, 12 digs and two aces versus Alabama A&M and recorded 13 kills, 11 digs, and two blocks (1bs, 1ba) against Arkansas-Monticello.
Edwards picked up her third Newcomer of the Week honor after hitting .315 this week for Jackson State. Edwards contributed 47 kills (4.27k/ps), 17 digs, and four aces this week. Edwards had a double-double against Alabama State with 12 kills and 10 digs, while leading all hitters versus Alabama A&M with 24 kills and hitting .391.
