BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In the final weekend of the SWAC cross country regular season, Alabama State swept weekly honors as Jephtah Kenei was named the Men’s Runner of the Week and Courtney Gooch the Women’s Runner of the Week.
Kenei (Sr., Kapsabet, Kenya) won Oakville’s Cherokee Trails College Cross Country Invitational. He was the top collegiate finisher in the 8k race with a time of 25:31.8 and earned one point for the Hornets in leading Alabama State to a third-place finish.
Gooch (Jr., Fresno, Calif.) had one of her best performances of the season and was the top finisher for the Lady Hornets at the Cherokee Trails College Invitational. She finished 8th in the 5k race (19:41.7) and led the team to a second place finish.
