MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Coach Andrew Chatmon and the Lady Hornets bowling team have signed a decorated prep bowler to Alabama State.
Danielle Walker is from Keller, Texas and has been named Dallas/Ft. Worth USBC Bowler of the Year. Walker averaged 203 her last season and was named 2008 and 2011 Texas High School girls singles Champion, the first two-time winner in the history of the state.
“We are thrilled that Danielle is joining Alabama State’s bowling team,” Chatmon said. “She is a huge addition to our program and an important component to the fact of us competing for a SWAC Championship. Danielle has a long track record of success and will be a help to the Lady Hornets bowling team immediately.”
Walker has competed in several events that she has either received champion status or has placed in the top four in the event. In 2010, she was named the overall Champion (boys &girls) during the 6th Annual Chris Barnes Youth Classic Thanksgiving Tournament named after USBC's spokesperson for its Sport Bowling program, where students from 5th thru 12th grade compete for scholarships.
“I believe she will have a successful career here,” commented Chatmon. “She is also excellent in the classroom. Her future both athletically and academically has all kinds of potential.”
