SWAC Cross Country Runners Compete in NCAA Regional
NCAA South Regional
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Arion Span was the top runner this week for the Alabama State University cross country program, as they competed in the NCAA South Regional held at the University of Alabama Friday morning.
Span – an All-Conference performer – crossed the line in a time of 21.55.2, finishing as the top runner from the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
She finished ahead of her teammate Janice Lane who came across with a time of 22:49.6. She also finished nearly 90 seconds ahead of the next runner from the conference, Scholasticah Kemei of Mississippi Valley State, who came across in a time of 23:06.4.
Kemei finished just ahead of Alabama State's Sade Lavallias, who finished less than two seconds behind at 23:08.2. Hayley Spears (24:45.3) and Hannah Mezidor (25:42.9) also competed for the Lady Hornets this weekend.

On the men's side, 2017 SWAC individual champion Vincent Langat represented Jackson State and finished the men’s 10k race in 32nd place. Langat finished with a time of 31.59.7 The lone runner for Alabama State was Joshua Coffelt who finished with a time of 35:49.3 in the 10k race.
