Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week: April 10
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Jackson State sprinter Azariah Foster, Alcorn State distance runner Yekeisha Royal and jumper Aaron Worrell, and Southern jumper Vashti Hannah have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as track and field athletes of the week for meets occuring April 6-7.
Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Azariah Foster, Jackson State
Jr. | Hurdles | 6-3 | Covington, Ga.
Foster ran a personal-best 13.95 during the 110-meter hurdles at the McNeese Spring Time Classic, finishing second in the event. Additionally, Foster collected another runner-up finish in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 50.03 seconds.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Yekeisha Royal, Alcorn State

Royal etched her name into the Alcorn history books during the McNeese Spring Time Classic, as she set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run. Royal finished fourth in the race with a time of 18:49.93, which was also the top time among SWAC athletes that competed during the meet.
Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Aaron Worrell, Alcorn State

Worrell finished second in the men's long jump at the McNeese Spring Time Classic, leaping 7.28 meters (23-10.75 feet) and besting all other SWAC athletes in the competition. The mark represents not only a career-best for the sophomore -- he beat out his previous personal best by nearly one foot -- but also places him as the No. 1 long jumper in the SWAC based on performances lists.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Vashti Hannah, Southern

Hannah won the women's long jump during the McNeese Spring Time Classic, clearing 5.48 meters (17-11.75 feet) to take home the top spot on the podium. This marks her third long jump victory of the outdoor season. Additionally, the sophomore out-distanced the second-place finisher by eight inches during competition.
