EUGENE, Ore. - The Prairie View A&M men's 4x100-meter relay team -- Keon Campbell, Carl Jordan, Samuel Omoera and William Polley -- garnered second-team All-America honors after its performance at the NCAA Division I Track and Field National Championships Wednesday night at Hayward Field.

The Panthers finished 14th overall with a time of 39.49 seconds, which tied the previous school record. Prairie View qualified for nationals with a 39.34 mark at the West regionals that bested the aforementioned time in school annals.

Prairie View finished fifth in its heat behind Houston (38.86), LSU (38.89), USC (39.05) and Penn State (39.15). The Panthers' result bested the likes of TCU, Tennessee, Mississippi State, UCLA and Georgia. Fellow SWAC school Alabama State also competed in the meet, but the Hornets were disqualified during the race.

To earn All-America status, a team must finish in the top 16 among all participating schools in an event. The top eight finishers received first-team consideration, and the next eight finishers earn second-team consideration.

Of the Panther athletes who participated in the event, all but Campbell are expected to return for competition in the 2018 season.

Deonca Bookman of Prairie View A&M will compete in the women's 400m hurdles event tonight. SWAC.org will provide results of her race as they are made available.
