BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s bowling teams are scheduled to begin conference play on Friday, January 19 with the SWAC West Roundup, at USA Bowl in Dallas, Texas.  Competition is slated to begin at 10 a.m. CT.

Defending conference champion Alabama State will look to get off to a strong start for its title defense in conference play this season.  The Lady Hornets ended the 2017 regular season in fourth place, and went on to win the SWAC bowling championship last season, the first in program history.

2017 regular season champion Prairie View A&M will look for a repeat performance in conference play this season. 2017 coach of the year Glenn White, will once again lead the Lady Panthers this season.  White will look to 2017 Freshman of the Year Kaitlyn Dickerson to help pace the Lady Panthers this season.  Last season Prairie View went 20-4 in SWAC play last season, in-route to the first regular season title in program history.

Jackson State, who finished tied for second in the regular season standings last season, will look to also contend for the regular season crown this season.  The Lady Tigers will look to claim its second regular season crown in three seasons in 2018.

Texas Southern once again will look to field a strong team this season.  The Texas Southern will look to 2017 SWAC Bowler of the Year Denishya Waller, to carry the Lady Tigers, who were runner-up in the SWAC bowling championship a season ago.
