Texas Southern to Compete in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – 2018 SWAC women's bowling champion, Texas Southern will compete in the opening round of the NCAA women’s bowling championship for the right to be placed in the eight-team double elimination bracket competition.

The opening round matches will take place on April 6, with the Lady Tigers set to face Lincoln Memorial University. The winner will advance to the eight-team bracket double elimination competiton of the NCAA bowling championship. The double elimination bracket will consist of a best-of-three match that includes the use of three-team game formats- baker total pin fall, five-person team match and a best-of-seven baker match play. The champion will be determined using a best-of-seven baker match play.

Texas Southern earned the first automatic bid to the championship in SWAC history with its 4-3 win in the championship match of the SWAC bowling championship over Jackson State this past Sunday in Arlington, Texas. It was the first confernece title for the Lady Tigers since 2006.
