Mid-Winter Classic

Alabama State, Grambling State, Jackson State, Alabama A&M

Results

JONESBORO, Ark. – A number of Southwestern Athletic Conference teams competed in the Mid-Winter Classic this weekend in Jonesboro, Ark. The event was hosted by Arkansas State University.

Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Grambling State and Jackson State were the SWAC schools who participated in the event.

Days 1-2

After the first day of competition, Alabama State had the highest finish of any SWAC school, with a 3-2 record, placing 12th.  The Lady Hornets knocked down 4,701 pins on day one.

Jackson State was just behind Alabama State, in 13th place, finishing day one with a 4-1 record, and knocking down 4,694 pins.

The Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M went 0-5 on day one, placing 19th.  Just in front of Grambling State, who finished 20th after the first day of competition.

After day two, Alabama State remained in 12th place, going 1-4 on the day, and increasing its pin count to 9,376 pins for the tournament.

Jackson State fell one spot in the team standings, to 14th positon after day two.  The Lady Tigers had a record of 3-2 on the day, to improve to 7-3, and had a total pin fall of 9,226 after two days.

Alabama A&M and Grambling State remained in 19th and 20th place respectively.  The Lady Bulldogs had a 1-9 record while GRAM went 0-9 after two days of play.

Day 3

Alabama State finished the event in 12th place overall, with the Lady Tigers of Jackson State finishing just behind in 13th place,

Alabama A&M and Grambling State rounded out the SWAC representation in 19th and 20th place respectively.

On the individual side, Tiara Wilkins of Alabama State was the highest placing SWAC bowler for the event.  Wilkins placed in 39th place, with an average of 195.00 for the individual portion of the event.

Capri Howard paced Jackson State.  Howard finished in 47th place, with an average of 191.00 pins per contest.  Four bowlers in total were inside the top-50 that represented SWAC schools in the individual standings.
