SMYRNA, Tenn. – Five out of the seven Southwestern Athletic Conference bowling teams competed in the Music City Classic, in Nashville over the weekend. The event featured 19 of the top 20 ranked teams in the country
Prairie View A&M would have the best finish among SWAC participants, finishing the event in 18th place, out of 35 total participants. The Panthers went 9-4, knocking down 11,637 pins for the event.
Texas Southern and Jackson State were the next two highest finishers among SWAC teams. Texas Southern came in at 22nd place, going 5-7 on the weekend and knocking down 11,420 pins for the event. JSU was right behind them, finishing in 23rd place (3-9) and knocking down 11,699 pins.
Alabama State finished in 28th place going 6-7 for the event. The Hornets knocked down 10,992 pins on the weekend.
Alabama A&M finished the event in 35th place.
Brittany Kinney of Prairie View A&M was the highest individual finisher among SWAC participants, placing 39th overall. Kinney bowled an average of 191.20 and had two games over 200.
Violet Kirk of Jackson State finished the event in 50th place, bowling an average of 186.80 per contest.
