Bowling West Round Up Preview: January 18

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Conference play for Southwestern Athletic Conference women’s bowling is set to get underway Friday, January 20 with the West Division Round Up at Emerald Bowl in Houston, Texas. The round up is a three day event, ending Sunday, January 22.

Teams competing include: Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Grambling State, Jackson State, Prairie View A&M, Southern and Texas Southern.

Entering Conference play as the defending 2016 reguar season and conference champion, Jackson State looks to Laura Uzzell and Briana Reid to sucessfully defend its regular season and conference title.

Prairie View A&M also fields a strong team.  The Panthers earned the highest national ranking in program history in November, coming in at #15 in the nation.

The roundup marks the first time that member schools will be in action since the All State Sugar Bowl Collegiate, where five SWAC schools (Alabama State, Texas Soutthern, Southern, Jackson State and Grambling State) competed in New Orleans, La. in early December.

The 2016 Regular Season Bowling Standings are below:

  1. Jackson State - 19-4
  2. Alabama State - 17-6
  3. Texas Southern - 16-7
  4. Prairie View A&M - 16-7
  5. Grambling - 2-20
  6. Alabama A&M - 2-20
  7. Southern - 4-12
