HOUSTON, Texas - The nationally ranked Prairie View A&M bowling team posted a 2-1 record on Sunday and a 10-4 record for the tournament as they finished in sixth place at the Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State in Houston.
 
The No. 22 Lady Panthers defeated No. 12 ranked Delaware State 4-2 (174-144, 142-182, 162-149, 178-222, 225-205, 173-168) to start the day, before defeating second-ranked and defending national champion Stephen F. Austin 4-3 (221-223, 165-167, 194-169, 176-155, 169-200, 226-185, 178-171) before finishing up the tournament with a loss to nationally #7 University of Central Missouri 4-1 (157-173, 193-185, 243-190, 170-191, 194-235).
 
Host team Sam Houston was the overall champions as the University of Nebraska placed second in front of Arkansas State. Vanderbilt finished fourth, while the University of Central Missouri finished in front of the Lady Panthers.
 
Prairie View A&M returns to action Friday Jan. 20, 2017 for the SWAC West Roundup in Houston.

NEW ORLEANS, La.- Five schools from the Southwestern Athletic Conference competed in the Allstate Suger Bowl Collegiate Invitational over the weekend, with defending SWAC champion Jackson State finishing third in the team standings.  
Marcella Sanchez of Jackson State was the fourth-ranked bowler for the event, bowling an average of 223.67 for six games. Denisyha Walker of Texas Southern ranked 13th overall for the event (211.50), and Rebecca Hresko of Alabama State ranked 14th overall (209.33).

JSU, Alabama State and Texas Southern each picked up head-to-head wins over UAB during the tourmanent. Jackson State also picked up a win over Louisiana Tech during the two-day event.

Alabama State finished sixth in the team standings, with TSU finishing eighth, Southern and Grambling rounded out the team standings.
