Azalea City Classic (South Alabama)
Alabama State

MOBILE, Ala. - Led by Arion Span, Alabama State competed at the Azalea City Classic Friday night, with the women finishing third and the men fourth.

On the women’s side, Span came across the line as the top Lady Hornet with a time of 18:53.6 to finish eighth overall. The time left her 20 seconds shy of the fifth spot overall. Her teammate, Janice Lane, finished the race 13th with a time of 19:57.4, while Sade Lavallias finished eleven seconds behind her teammate with a time of 20:08.3. Kleo Torres rounded out the top twenty for the Lady Hornets, finishing with with a time of 20:28.0.

On the men’s side, Gregory Thigpen crossed the line in a time of 19:37.9 to cross the line 20th overall. Joshua Coffelt wasn’t far behind, coming across 23rd in a time of 19:56.7. Andrew Jackson finished 36th in a time of 21:08.1 to round out the runners for Alabama State in the top 40.

Allstate Sugar Bowl XC Invite (Loyola-New Orleans)

Mississippi Valley's Scholasticah Kemei won the women's 5K during the Allstate Sugar Bowl invite this past weekend, finishing with a time of 18:48.7.

The Devilettes finished second behind Tulane in Division I team standings, as Alice Kimutai earned an eighth-place showing for MVSU (20:44.8). Autezia Sellers came in with a time of 21:53.5 to finish 17th overall. Mya Dumpson (22:54.3; 28th) and Derica Pitters (23:16.1; 31st) also placed in the top 40 for MVSU.

Danae Colston led the Jagaur women with a 22:14.1 time, good for 23rd overall. Not far behind was teammate Dazya Mitchell (22:40.4) in 26th place. LaTona Turner also picked up a top-40 finish (23:22.6; 32nd). Jackson State had three Lady Tigers in the top 25: Stherline Silencieux (21:21.1; 14th), Nya Buom (22:05.4; 22nd) and Taylor Hayes (22:18.9; 24th). Jessica Shirley clocked in a 22:59.2 to finish 30th.

On the men's side, Southern finished third among D-I men's team standings at the event. The Jaguars placed four runners in the top 20, with Nickson Kipleting (17:46.1) and Keshaun Javois (17:47.3) finishing 15th and 16th, respectively. Issac Brown (18:03.3) and Walter Mixon (18:05.9) were 18th and 20th overall and JaColby Sanders finished 27th with a time of 18:53.3.

For the Delta Devils, Jaleel Turner finished with a team-leading time of 17:24.7, good for 13th overall; teammate Timothy Misoy finished just behind him with a time of 17:56.3, resulting in 17th overall.

Central Arkansas Open (Central Arkansas)
Arkansas-Pine Bluff

CONWAY, Ark. - Wade Garner finished fifth overall for Arkansas-Pine Bluff with a time of 15:01 in the men's 3-mile run during the Central Arkansas Open.

UAPB was fourth in team standings. Laurel Heath was next to finish up for the Golden Lions, taking 17th place with a time of 15:34.6. Malique Smith (16:14.3; 26th) and Tyran Lyons (16:34.4; 28th) also picked up top 30 results for Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Rounding out the results for UAPB were Harlan Clarke (16:56.2; 34th) and Alexander Collier (18:42.5; 45th).
