Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week: Feb. 6

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -  Alcorn State sprinter Bralon Robinson, Alabama State sprinter Charminique Hackney, Texas Southern jumper Taylor Levine and Southern thrower Jamira Russ have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference as indoor track and field athletes of the week following their performances in competition from Feb. 2-4.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week - Bralon Robinson, Alcorn State
Sprints | Fr. | Canton, Miss.

Robinson earned a top-10 result in the 60m dash during the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational, finishing seventh with a time of 6.84 seconds.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week - Charminique Hackney, Alabama State
Sprints | So. | San Diego, Calif.

Hackney set a new meet record during the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on Feb. 4, winning the women's 200m dash with a time of 24.11 seconds. This is the second-fastest time in the event by a SWAC athlete this year, and represents a personal best for the sophomore, who shaved more than eight-tenths of a second off of her previous best time (24.93; Samford Invitational, Jan. 19).

Men's Field Athlete of the Week - Taylor Levine, Texas Southern
Jumps | Fr. | Lancaster, Texas

Levine posted two top-3 placings during the J.D. Martin Invitational hosted by Oklahoma this past weekend. The freshman leaper set a new personal-best mark in the long jump, clearing 6.77m (22-02.50 feet) to earn second place in the event. He followed that with a third-place result in the high jump, making a leap of 1.90m (6-02.75 feet) during competition.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week - Jamira Russ, Southern
Throws | Sr. | Plaquemine, La.

Russ won the women's weight throw during the LSU Bayou Bengal Invitational this past weekend, nearly setting a new personal best in the event. Russ' made a toss of 19.23m (63-01.25 feet) to win the event, besting opposition from the likes of Florida, LSU and Southern Miss along the way. The mark was just 0.75 feet off her personal best distance of 19.25m, set at last year's SWAC Indoor Championships. Russ also finished 10th in the shotput.
