Blazer and Vulcan Invitational (UAB)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Alabama A&M's DeTorrian set a new event record in the 200m dash and teammate Charrie Dennard won the women's triple jump during the UAB Vulcan Invitational this past weekend.

Dennard, who also finished second in the women's long jump -- leapt 12.47m to claim the win. Green posted a 21.34-second time in the 200m, earning the win as well. Green also tied for third in the men's 60m dash during the meet.

Also during the Vulcan Invite portion of the weekend's events, AAMU's Joi Ballard (7.85) was fifth in the women's 60m dash, Alabama State's Charminique Hackney posted a 24.61 time en route to a fifth-place finish in the women's 200m, and fellow Lady Hornet Monica Howard scored a fifth-place finish in 60m with a time a 8.78.

Jackson State's Joshua Hilliard was fifth in the men's 60m hurdles (8.24) and fellow Tiger Javauny Hyde was fifth in the men's triple jump (14.76m).

During the Blazer Invite portion of the weekend, Jackson State's Darrion Hampton won the men's 1000m run (2:33.79). JSU's Quatasia Fantroy was second in the women's long jump (5.64m). 

ASU's Tyree Newton was second in the 5000m run, breaking the 17-minute barrie. ASU's men were also runners-up in the 4x400m relay.

Alabama State's Tatiana Etienne was fifth in the women's 500m dash with a time of 1:13.66 and Arion Span posted an 18:55.88 time in claiming fifth place in the women's 5000m run. The Lady Hornets were also fourth in the women's distance medley relay.


Aggie Team Invitational (Texas A&M)

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Prairie View A&M's women finished third in team standings during the Aggie Team Invitational at Texas A&M, highlighted by Nekeisha Bailey's win in the women's high jump (1.72m).

Deonca Bookman placed fourth with the time of 25.14 in the 200 meter dash and had a sixth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.87) and helped aid the 4x400m relay team to a second-place result. Takara Coleman (57.41) and Husniyyah Rogers (57.92) paced to a second and third place finish in the 400 meter dash. In the women's 5000 meter run, JoAnna Benavidez ran a time of 20:11.76 to give her a fifth place finish.

On the men's side,Samuel Omoera finished third in the 200m dash with a time of 21.50, Logan Williams finished second (8.17). In the 4x400 the men's team paced to a fifth place finish with the time of 3:19.31.

For Texas Southern, Alexis Gray picked up two top-5 results: a third-place finish in the women's 200m (24.81) and a fifth-place result in the 60m (7.65). Teammate Breana Dockery was second in the 200m (24.6). Gray and Dockery each anchored a third-place outing for the TSU women's 4x400m team.

Breanca Woods was third in the long jump, and Miriam Pierre was fifth in the weight throw.

For TSU's men, Mykele Young Sanders claimed fourth in the 400m (49.26). Tevin Kimble cleared 15.01m to win third place in the long jump. 


Sooner Opener (University of Oklahoma)

Results

NORMAN, Okla. - Grambling State's Montieco Harris won the men's 400m dash at the Sooner Opener with a time of 50.37.

Lamarques Woodard of Arkansas-Pine Bluff was second at 50.62 and was one of three UAPB sprinters to place in the top 5 of the event. Fellow Tigers Altany Wilson was second in the 200m dash with a time of 22.58 seconds. Juwan Parker of UAPB was third with a time of 22.63. Wilson also claimed fourth in the triple jump (15.15m).

Malique Smith won the 600 yard run (1:12.04) for UAPB, with teammate Wade Garner coming in second. Jeremiah Kimeli of Grambling posted a 2:08.23 in the 800m run as he took second. GSU finished 2-4 in the event. Hassan Chepkwony of GSU was fifth in the men's 3000m run (9:09.98).

UAPB's Miles Dortch finished third in the shotput.

On the women's side, UAPB's women's 4x440-yard relay finished fifth with a time of 4:05.98. Summer Gilliam posted multiple top-10 results individually, her best a fourth-place finish in the high jump. Briana Burke also had a fourth-place grab for UAPB, her result coming in the long jump.

For Grambling State, Darlene Desmangles finished fourth in the triple jump (11.43m), and Kenya Wheeler cleared 45-03.50 feet in the women's shot put for a fourth-place finish. Wheeler was also fourth in the weight throw.
