NEWS AND NOTES:

• With Kristy Parker taking home player of the week honors on Dec. 26, Mississippi Valley is currently the only SWAC that has had two different players win POTW honors.

• The Southwestern Athletic Conference has five players ranked in the top 20 nationally in steals per game:
- Shakyla Hill, GSU (5.1; 2nd)
- Alexus Freeman, ALCN (4.0; 5th)
- Dominique Newman, PVAMU (3.3; 16th)
- Shala Dobbins, PVAMU (3.27; 17th)
- Derica Wiggins, JSU (3.25; 20th)

No other conference has more than two players with this distinction.
