NEWS AND NOTES:

• With its 70-56 win over Evansville, Alabama A&M not only snapped a 22-game skid dating back to last season, but also earned head coach Margaret Richards her first win over a Division I opponent as Lady Bulldogs coach.

• Prairie View A&M guard Shala Dobbins dropped 36 points in a 116-73 win over Arlington Baptist on November 14. The point total is the highest by a SWAC player this season, and the most points in a game by a league player since December of 2015, when Alcorn State forward Norianna Haynes put up 39 points.

• Sunday marks a big test for the defending regular-season champion Grambling State, as No. 17 Florida State comes to Grambling for an afternoon tilt. It marks the second game for a SWAC team versus a ranked opponent this season, as Alabama State fell to defending national champion and No. 4 South Carolina during its season-opener.

• In Alcorn State’s 84-77 win over Southeastern Louisiana -- during which reigning SWAC player of the week Tia Sanders put up a career-best 29 points -- the Lady Braves earned its first win over a non-conference D-I foe since Dec. 2014. It was the program’s first season-opening win since November 2002.

• Alcorn State’s Miracle Rushing has posted double-doubles in each of the Lady Braves first two contests this season.
