Arkansas-Pine Bluff 74, Texas Southern 72
HOUSTON, TX – The Tigers 27-game home winning streak came to an end on Monday night as they dropped a heartbreaker to the Golden Lions 74-72. The last time the Tigers fell at home was a 58-55 loss to Prairie View A&M on February 7, 2015.
After taking a three-point advantage with 17 seconds remaining in the contest after two successful Derrick Bruce free throws (72-69), UAPB subsequently tied the game at 72 on a Martaveous McKnight 3-point basket in which TSU was also called for a foul.
After a technical foul was assessed on the Tigers bench, McKnight connected on 2-of-3 free throws to give UAPB a two-point lead at 74-72 which would end up being the game’s final score.
Texas Southern was led in scoring by Derrick Bruce who contributed 25 points five rebounds and one steal while teammate Donte Clark scored 21 points while also grabbing seven rounds.
UAPB (7-13, 7-0 SWAC) was led by Charles Jackson, who scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Trent Steen had 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocks before fouling out and Martaveous McKnight scored 14.

Prairie View A&M 93, Mississippi Valley State 77
PRAIRIE VIEW, TX. – Zachary Hamilton and Gary Blackston paced the Panthers in the scoring department each tallying 26 points. Troy Thompson scored a season high 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. The Panthers proved to be capable marksman Monday evening, converting 12-of-25 3-point attempts, with Hamilton draining six of his 13 attempts from beyond the arc.
PV (6-15, 3-4 SWAC) broke slow out of the gates falling behind 13-6 with 14:54. The Panthers would battle back scoring five straight points, with Thompson draining a jump shot from beyond the 3-point arc to give the Panthers their first lead of the game 15-14 with 12:37 left in the first half.
The contest would remain close midway through the half. Prairie View blew the game open, scoring 27 points in the final 8:23 of the half. The run was keyed by pivotal 3-point shots from Thompson, Hamilton, and Blackston, helping the Panthers shoot a sweltering 66 percent from the floor and 58.3 percent from three-point range.
Jordan Evans led the Delta Devils (0-20, 0-7 SWAC) with 30 points on 8-of-15 shooting including 6-of-7 from 3-point range and 8-of-11 from the free throw line.

Southern 62, Alabama A&M 61
BATON ROUGE, La. – Jamar Sandifer's putback with 2.8 seconds left on the clock propelled the Jaguars to a thrilling 62-61 win over Alabama A&M to capture its third consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference win of the season.
Jared Sam led all scorers with a game high 17 points and added six rebounds and three assists to lead Southern (8-13, 4-4 SWAC).
Sidney Umude added 14 points and Eddie Reese scored 12 points off the bench.
Mohamed Sherif totaled 14 points and 14 rebounds and Marcus Merriweather scored 16 for the Bulldogs (2-18- 2-5 SWAC).

Alcorn State 81, Alabama State 64
LORMAN, MS – The lead never dropped below double-figures in the final 18 minutes for the Alcorn State University men's basketball program as it defeated Alabama State 81-64 Monday at the Davey L. Whitney Complex.
Alcorn (7-14, 3-5 SWAC) battled for a +13 rebounding margin and +14 disparity in points in the paint over Hornets (3-16, 3-4 SWAC). The Braves never trailed in the contest.
Four student-athletes scored in double-figures for the Braves as senior A.J. Mosby led the way with 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sophomore Maurice Howard came off the bench to net 17 points including a trio of three-pointers.
Senior Avery Patterson drained 11 points which was one shy of his season-high, and freshman Troymain Crosby ended with 10 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Yalen Reed also had a big contribution with nine rebounds.
Alcorn held the edge in nearly every statistical category including shooting percentage where it was .491 from the field compared to ASU's .373.
The Hornets (3-16, 3-4 SWAC) were led by Reginald Gee's 19 points. Rodney Simeon scored 17.
