CONFERENCE NEWS & NOTES

- Staying undefeated: Jackson State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff each picked up two more conference victories this past week to remain undefeated in SWAC play. The Tigers maintained their first place position with a 6-0 mark with an overtime win against last year’s defending SWAC champions Texas Southern and followed that up with a victory against Prairie View A&M on Monday.

- The Golden Lions needed overtime to beat Southern this past Saturday and followed that up with a 12-point win against Alcorn State to move to 5-0 in conference play. It is the best start under head coach George Ivory in his 10 years at the helm.

- Cashing in from downtown: Jackson State’s Jeremiah Jefferson set a new single-game best mark for most 3-pointers in one game by one player as he connected on nine 3-pointers in a 79-71 win against Prairie View A&M on Monday.

- Strong in defeat: Mississippi Valley State’s Jordan Evans poured in 41 points, but the Delta Devils dropped their game against Southern 78-70 in overtime on Monday.

- Hitting the boards: Prairie View A&M’s J.D. Wallace pulled down a single-game season high 17 rebounds against Grambling State this past Saturday.
