Syracuse 80, Texas Southern 67
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – All starting five members of the Tigers reached double digits in scoring, but it wasn’t enough as Texas Southern fell at the Carrier Dome.

Donte Clark scored a team-high 20 points, Robert Lewis contributed with 13 points while Trayvon Reed added 12 points and eight rebounds, Kevin Scott had 11 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals and Derrick Bruce finished with 10 points for TSU (0-4).

But the Orange (3-0) received 21 points from Tyus Battle and four others reached double figures in scoring as Syracuse shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half.

South Dakota 84, Grambling State 55
VERMILLION, S.D.— The Grambling State University men’s basketball team fell behind early and could not recover as the Tigers dropped an 84-55 decision to South Dakota on Saturday night at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.

The Coyotes (3-1) used a 13-2 run to begin the game and didn’t look back in handing Grambling State the road loss.

Bobby Jackson led the way for Grambling State (0-3) with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting, including a pair of 3-pointers. Kareem Wright tallied seven points, three steaks, two assists and one rebound in 18 minutes of action. Shirmane Thomas finished with five rebounds to lead the Tigers defensively.

Tyler Hagedorn paced South Dakota with 15 points, three blocks and two rebounds. Carlton Hurst tallied 10 points, on 5-of-6 shooting, while Tyler Peterson registered 10 points and three steals. Trey Burch-Manning led the way defensively with nine boards.

St. Bonaventure 72, Jackson State 58
St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – The Tigers trailed by 13 at halftime and traded baskets for most of the second half in falling on the road in a nonconference game at the Reilly Center.

Jeremiah Jefferson led Jackson State (1-2) with 14 points and four assists while Paris Collins contributed with 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Matt Mobley scored a game-high 27 points and had six assists to guide the Bonnies (1-1).

SMU 73, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 37
Dallas, Texas – Ben Emelogu II and Everett Ray got their first career double-doubles to help propel SMU past Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a 72-37 win Saturday.


Shake Milton sank four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points and Jimmy Whitt added 12 points and six assists for SMU (4-0), which extended its home win streak to 26 games, the third longest active streak in the NCAA.


The Mustangs hit 51 percent of their 49 shots from the field, dominated the boards 43-20 and held UAPB (0-4) to the fewest points it's scored in a game since a 64-37 loss to Texas A&M in 2007.


Emelogu scored 13 points and hauled in 10 rebounds and Ray had 12 points and 10 boards.


Charles Jackson led UAPB with 19 points with 7-for-15 shooting and was the only Golden Lion to reach double figures.
