Mississippi Valley 3, Talladega 0 (25-20,25-22,25-15)
ITTA BENA, Miss - Taylor Selfridge notched 20 digs and 11 kills as Mississippi Valley State swept Talladega College Thursday night in non-conference action.
Selfridge connected on .412 percent of her attacks for the Devilettes (7-25), who also got nine kills from Joilyn Azore. Kalin Barnes posted eight kills and eight digs. Jaime Polk delivered 35 assists to go with six digs, a kill and a service ace, and Jessica Bell added 13 digs.
Carlesia Nunally and Jaszia Bowie posted six kills each for Talladega College.
After pulling away late in set one and fending off a late charge from Talladega in set two en route to the sweep, the Devilettes dominated the second half of set three with a 12-2 run to close the matter.
Jackson State 3, Alcorn State 0 (25-23,25-13,25-17)
JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State (7-25, 6-9) increased its win streak to three straight with a 3-0 victory over Alcorn State (3-38, 0-17) Thursday night in SWAC action.
With it, JSU is a half-game back of Southern -- who defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff this evening -- in the race for the No. 7 seed in the SWAC Volleyball Tournament.
Singryd Valadares led Alcorn with nine putaways. Majesty Ferguson added 12 assists.

Ouachita Baptist 3, Grambling State 0 (28-26,25-11,25-22)
Grambling State 3, Arkansas-Monticello 0 (25-20,25-22,25-22)
MONTICELLO, Ark. - Grambling State University volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches on Thursday night as the Lady Tigers fell to Ouachita Baptist, 3-0, but bounced back with a 3-0 sweep of Arkansas-Monticello at Steelman Fieldhouse.
In the opening match, Grambling State (15-20) led 24-21 in the opening set, but fell 28-26 to Ouachita Baptist. OBU (18-10) cruised to a 25-11 victory in the second set and won the match in the third set, 25-22. Chasity Nicks led the way for Grambling State with nine kills and four digs. Diemend Richardson chipped in with 15 assists, while L’Muriell Thrower tallied 10. Erineka Mollere paced the defense with 14 digs.
Kori Bullard and Adrianna Nolly led Ouachita Baptist with 16 and 13 kills. Stormi Leonard finished with 37 assists, while Nikki Clay and Paige Williams added 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
Against Arkansas-Monticello, the Lady Tigers picked up a 25-20 win in the first set and carried over the momentum in the second set with a 25-22 victory, grabbing a 2-0 lead. Grambling State made short work of Arkansas-Monticello and swept the match with a 25-22 win in the third set. Nicks paced the Grambling State offense with 14 kills, while Talicia Lang added 10. Thrower and Richardson combined for 31 assists and 16 digs.
The Cotton Blossoms (10-20) got a match-high 20 kills from Maggie Pyles and 12 kills from Vanessa Pawlak in the loss. Toryn Cox chipped in with 41 assists, while Macy Mitchell and Aubrey Harrison tallied 25 and 10 digs, respectively.

Alabama State 3, Alabama A&M 0 (25-20,25-11,25-20)
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The regular season Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion Alabama State kept their conference winning streak alive with a 3-0 victory over Alabama A&M Thursday night at Lockhart Gymnasium.
Alabama State (24-9, 17-0 SWAC) pushed their streak to 38 consecutive conference wins, with their last loss in conference play coming at the 2015 SWAC championship against Jackson State. The Lady Hornets are currently in the middle of an eight-match winning streak.
Krysta Medearis led three players with 10 kills each against Alabama A&M (13-8, 13-4 SWAC) with just five errors. The sophomore finished the night hitting .227 and recorded a pair of digs. Meanwhile, Ni’yesha Brown added 10 kills and hit .292 on the night with four digs.
Bayle’ Bennett recorded a double-double, her sixth of the season, as she recorded 10 kills and 10 digs on the night. She finished the night hitting .280 with a service ace. Kori Kutsch led the Lady Hornets with 22 assists, while Justus Tuiolosega finished with 16. Asha Daniels led Alabama State with 20 digs and added seven assists, while Kutsch added seven digs.
Terra Brooks led Alabama A&M with eight kills as Alabama A&M -- who played without middle hitter and leading blocker Syretha Pride -- was held to just .180 hitting as a team and recorded just 29 kills in the straight-set loss. Meredith Sieck led the Bulldogs with 25 assists, while Helena Figueiredo recorded 17 digs.

Prairie View A&M 3, Texas Southern 1 (26-24,25-22,14-25,26-24)
HOUSTON - Prairie View A&M (7-17, 7-10 SWAC) continued its hot streak toward the end of the season, besting cross-town rival Texas Southern (14-11, 11-6 SWAC) in four sets on Thursday night.
With the result, Alabama A&M -- despite a loss to Alabama State earlier in the evening -- has clinched the No. 2 seed in the 2017 SWAC Volleyball Tournament. TSU can do no better than the No. 3 seed, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Grambling State have outside chances at the slot.
Larissa Martinez led the Lady Panthers with 17 kills and was one dig shy of a double-double. Taylor Goudeau added 16 kills, and Victoria Pearson made 11 kills. Erica Jimenez (34) and Destiny Smith (20) combined for 54 assists, and Christen Augustine collected 28 digs.
Texas Southern's Alexis Austin led all players with 19 kills. Kirby Anderson notched 13 kills -- with a .480 attack clip -- and four blocks. Cassidy Jannson made 11 digs and 10 kills. Asia Howard dished out 37 assists and made 10 digs.
