Alabama State 3, Alcorn State 0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-10)
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama State won its 28th consecutive conference match with a 3-0 victory over Alcorn State University in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) action Monday night.
Krysta Medearis led Alabama State (14-7, 7-0 SWAC) with a match-high 10 kills on the night, while Ni’yesha Brown added nine kills and Bayle’ Bennett seven in the victory. Kori Kutsch recorded a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs, while Justus Tuiolosega added 10 assists.
Asha Daniels added 10 digs, while four players recorded a pair of blocks – Medearis, Briana Dorsey, Payten Clark and Candace Martin.
Alabama State finished the night hitting .410, while holding Alcorn State (2-25, 0-7 SWAC) to a negative attack percentage on the night.
Omone Davies and Daharri Thompkins posted four kills each to lead the Lady Braves. Jasmine Chambers put up eight assists, and Pai Iosia had 10 digs.

Southern Miss 3, Jackson State 0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-15)
JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State (2-18) dropped a non-conference affair to Southern Miss in straight sets at the T.B. Ellis Gymnasium Monday night.
JSU was outhit by a considerable margin in terms of attack percentage, as the Golden Eagles amassed a .312 clip, compared to the Lady Tigers' -.012 in the category.
Amanda Modesto led Jackson State with six kills and seven digs. Terri Irving dished out nine assists and posted six digs.
Overwhelmed by a 21-9 start in set one, Jackson State battled a bit closer in set two before a 10-4 run by Southern Miss put the visitors in the driver's seat. From there, the Lady Tigers were done in by a 12-3 start to the final frame.
Texas Southern 3, Grambling State 1 (25-14, 18-25, 26-24, 25-20)
GRAMBLING, La. - Alexis Austin and Cassidy Jannson had 15 and 10 kills, respectively, to lead the Texas Southern to a 3-1 win over Grambling State on Monday evening at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
TSU improved to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in SWAC play, and GSU fell to 7-15 on the season and 3-4 in the conference.
GSU had three players with 10 or more kills. Kevreion Ward led the way with 13 kills, while Talicia Lang and Chasity Nicks had 10 each. Defensively, Erineka Mollere had a match-high 18 digs. Lang and Nicks also had double-digit digs (13 and 12, respectively). Tess Reynolds had a match-best three solo blocks.
L'Muriell Thrower recorded a double-double of 19 assists and 10 digs and Diemend Richardson finished with 18 assists.
Jannson paced the TSU defense with 16 digs. Erin Adams had 15 digs, while Ellena Torres added 10. Asia Howard had a match-high 37 assists and added five digs and two block assists.

Alabama A&M 3, Mississippi Valley 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-9)
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Terra Brooks posted a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs to lead Alabama A&M (7-13, 7-0 SWAC) to a sweep of Mississippi Valley State (3-18, 1-6 SWAC) at the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium Monday night.
Courtney Oliver had eight kills and five digs for the Lady Bulldogs, and Syretha Pride posted five blocks (all solo) and four kills. Meredith Sieck put up 26 helpers and eight digs, and Helena Figueiredo put in 14 digs.
Kalin Barnes led the Devilettes with eight kills, adding nine digs. Taylor Selfridge added six kills and seven digs. Bianca Watkins had 17 assists and five digs, and Jessica Bell posted 10 digs, leading Mississippi Valley in the category.
Alabama A&M posted a .327 attack percentage in the contest, highlight by a .500 mark during the decisive final set.
Southern 3, Prairie View A&M 1 (25-21, 31-29, 19-25, 25-21)
BATON ROUGE, La. - Southern (5-12, 5-2 SWAC) outlasted Prairie View (3-8, 3-4 SWAC) in a hard-fought four-set affair Monday night at the Clifford Seymour Gymnasium.
Shelby Jolly put away 18 kills to lead the offensive charge for the Jaguars. Ranaja Taylor chipped in with 13 kills and eight digs, hitting at an impressive .428 attack percentage. Arabella Hall put down 11 kills for the second-straight match, adding three blocks. Vaterra Calais dished out 39 assists and added seven digs. Bailey Jefferson's 16 digs paced Southern in the category.
Hailee Morton led the Lady Panthers with 18 kills, and Taylor Goudeau added 10 kills. However, Goudeau only played two sets during the contest. Larissa Martinez put up nine kills and five digs. Sommer Gonzales put up 30 assists, and Mykaeli Franklin added 22. Christen Augustine led all players with 18 digs.
After dropping the first set, Prairie View squandered several set point chances in a drawn out second set before a service ace by Mariah Clayton and an attakc error by Victoria Pearson pushed Southern ahead 2-0. The Lady Panthers managed to take set three, but lost an 11-9 lead in set four that ultimately ended their chances at a comeback.
