North Carolina A&T 5 Alabama A&M 4
GREENSBORO. N.C. – Alabama A&M narrowly fell 5-4 to North Carolina A&T in a comeback effort that fell short in non-conference action on Sunday.
The Bulldogs (7-35) took the lead in the top of the third inning. Raymond Santiago singled to center field to drive in the first run of the game. Later, J.T. O’Reel singled to short, to drive in another run and give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage.
North Carolina A&T cut the deficit to one by scoring one run in the bottom of the third, making the score 2-1.
The Aggies took the lead in the fourth, scoring four runs to take a 5-2 lead at that state.
Alabama A&M answered in the top of the fifth. Santiago grounded out to second base, which allowed a run to score and make the score 5-3.
The Bulldogs added another run in the sixth, when Richard Polinsky homered to right field to make the score 5-4, which held up as the final.
Santiago was 1 for 3 from the plate with two RBis to pace the Bulldogs in the loss.
Texas Southern 21 Prairie View A&M 1
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Texas Southern defeated Prairie View A&M 21-1 on Sunday, to complete the series sweep of the Panthers.
Prairie View (9-27, 5-13 SWAC) opened the scoring in the first. Calvin Rucker knocked in an RBI single to give the Panthers the lead.
From that point, it was all Texas Southern (19-22, 13-4 SWAC). The Tigers scored four runs in the second, to take a 4-1 lead. TXSO scored six runs in the following inning, making the score 10-1.
The Tigers cruised from there, leading to a 21-1 victory over the Panthers.
Harold LeBlanc was 3 for 6 with four RBis and three runs scored in the win for TXSO.
Rucker was 2 for 3 from the plate with one RBI for PVAM.
