Nicholls 17 Prairie View A&M 8
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Prairie View A&M was unable to sustain a fast start in a 17-8 loss to Nicholls in a back and forth game on Wednesday. The Panthers (12-31) led early, leading 2-1 after the first inning. PVAM added two more runs in the second, to take a 4-1 lead.
Nicholls answered in the third, scoring four runs to regain the lead. 5-4.
The Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, to take a 6-5 lead at that point in the contest.
Nicholls took the lead back in the fifth, scoring five runs and adding three more in the sixth to make the score 11-4.
The Panthers scored two runs in the seventh, but it was not enough as the Panthers fell by nine.
Jalyn Baker was two for three from the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs to pace PVAM in the loss.
#3 Ole Miss 10 Arkansas Pine Bluff 3
OXFORD, Miss. – Arkansas Pine Bluff struggled offensively in a 10-3 loss to #3 Ole Miss on Wednesday night in Oxford.
The Golden Lions were outmatched from the start in this contest. Ole Miss jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The Rebels scored three more runs in the second, to extend its early lead to 6-0
UAPB got on the board in the third, scoring one run to make the score 6-1 at that point. The Golden Lions later scored two more runs in the fifth, to cut its deficit to 6-3.
Ole Miss put the game out of reach in the sixth, scoring two runs to make the score 8-3. The Rebels added two more runs in the eighth, for the seven run victory.
Esparza was 4 for 5 from the batter’s box with two RBIs in the loss for UAPB.
