Texas Southern's Season Ends with Loss to Rice

BATON ROUGE, La. - Texas Southern would not be able to maintain a fast start, as its season came to a close with a 13-6 loss to Rice on Saturday in the regional round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The Tigers got off to a great start. Gerrek Jimenez hit an RBI single to get TSU on the board and give the Tigers the 1-0 lead in the first inning. Later, Christina Sanchez hit a two RBI single to give Texas Southern a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The Tigers added to its lead in the top of the second. Kamren Duked doubled to left field to drive in a run and Jimenez added an RBI single later in the inning to give TSU a 5-0 lead.
Rice answered in the bottom of the frame. The Owls scored five runs to even the score at 5-5.
In the fifth, Sanchez hit an RBI single, to give Texas Southern a 6-5 lead.
Rice scored one run in the bottom of the inning, to even the score at 6-6.
The Owls added six runs in the bottom of the seventh, to pull away and ulimitley taking the win, ending the Tiger's season.
Texas Southern was led by Sanchez, who went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs in the loss.
