Jackson State Clinches East Division

JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State defeated Alabama A&M 6-2 on Friday. The Tigers clinched the SWAC east division with the win.
The Tigers clinched the east by ensurung that it finishes with at worst, the same record in conferene play as current second place team Alabam State. Jackson State currently has an 18-4 record in SWAC play. JSU owns the tiebreaker, which is winning percentage in head-to-head competiton. Jackson State went 4-2 against the Hornets this season in head-to-head meetings.
In tonight's contest Bulldogs would take the early lead, getting two runs in the first, to take a 2-0 lead. The Tigers would tie the game with two runs in the third to make the score 2-2.
The Tigers would score four runs over the course of the fifth and sixth innings, to take the victory.
The Tigers would be led by CJ Newsome, who would tally three hits and two RBIs to pace the Tigers in the win.
The Bulldogs would be led by Zeth Malcom, who would go 1 for 3 with and have two RBIs in the loss.
