Alabama A&M's season comes to a close in NIVC

Georgia 3, Alabama A&M 0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-18)

ATHENS, Ga. - Alabama A&M (14-20) saw its season come to a close following a straight-set loss at Georgia in the opening round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championships Tournament Tuesday night inside the Ramsey Center.

Syretha Pride led Alabama A&M with seven kills and three blocks. Meredith Sieck put up 14 assists. Rebecca Pierce paced the visiting Lady Bulldogs with eight digs. 

For Georgia (21-11), Rachel Ritchie put down 11 kills to lead the charge. Majesti Bass added eight kills, and T'ara Ceasar posted six. Meghan Donovan posted 31 assists, and Kendall Glover collected 10 digs and served up four aces.

Alabama A&M was outhit .322 - .045 over the course of the match, including a .545 - .000 advantage in favor of Georgia during a one-sided second set win for the home-standing Lady Bulldogs.

Georgia built a 23-11 lead in set one, but Alabama A&M fought back to the tune of a 6-1 run to get within single digits before Dalaney Hans put the set away with a spike for UGA. After dropping set two, Alabama A&M kept pace with Georgia early on, but after a bad set by Glover made it 8-7 UGA, Georgia pulled away with seven unanswered points. Alabama A&M got within five of UGA down the stretch before back-to-back errors ended the match.
