Alabama State 3, Prairie View A&M 0 (25-18,25-12,25-12)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama State (19-9, 12-0 SWAC) defeated Prairie View A&M (3-14, 3-8) in straight sets to open day two of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Volleyball Roundup at ASU's Lockhart Gymnasium.

Payten Clark and Briana Dorsey led the way on both ends of the court, as they each posted 12 kills. Clark also turned away five attacks, and Dorsey made four blocks. Ni'yesha Brown added seven kills. Kori Kutsch put up 21 assists, and Justus Tuiolosega recorded 14 assists. Kayla Torress had a team-best eight digs in the win.

Mykaeli Franklin led the Lady Panthers with nine assists and six kills. Latrice Brown posted five kills. Erica Jimenez pitched eight assists, and Tatierra Johnson got nine digs.

Alabama A&M 3, Grambling State 0 (25-13,25-20,25-17)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama A&M (10-16, 10-2 SWAC) bested Grambling State (10-18, 4-6) in three sets during morning action on day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup hosted at Alabama State inside Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Terra Brooks led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 kills and added five digs. Courtney Oliver put up nine kills, three service aces and two blocks. Syretha Pride posted seven kills and three blocks. Meredith Sieck posted 32 assists, five digs and two kills. Defensively, Jaelin Gant and Cierra Davis led with nine digs apiece.

Grambling State -- which recorded more attack errors than kills in the match -- got five kills each from Chasity Nicks and Talicia Lang. L'Murriell Thrower posted 10 assists. Lang and Erineka Mollere put in nine digs each. Kevreion Ward was held quiet to the tune of one kill, but added three blocks on the defensive end.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff 3, Alcorn State 0 (25-16,25-21,25-8)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Arkansas-Pine Bluff defeated Alcorn State in straight sets during day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup hosted at Alabama State inside Lockhart Gymnasium.

UAPB (8-16, 7-4 SWAC) was led by Taylor Sheppy's nine kills. Kendalle Howard added seven digs and six kills. Britney Sahlmann dished out 19 assists to go with seven digs, three kills and two service aces. Jade Sanlin was tops among all Lady Lions players with nine digs.

The Lady Braves got six kills from Ashley Samuel, and Daharri Thompkins posted five kills and four blocks. Brittney Dumas dished nine assists, and Pai Iosia put in 18 digs and also dealt six assists.

Mississippi Valley State 3, Southern 1 (25-23,25-23,24-26,25-22)  

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Mississippi Valley State (6-21, 4-8) got 15 kills from Taylor Selfridge in a four-set win over Southern during day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup hosted at Alabama State University in Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Selfridge added 12 digs. Kalin Barnes was a kill shy of a double-double with 20 digs and nine kills. Tylia Dixon posted 16 digs and five kills, and Jessica Bell netted 10 digs. Jaime Polk delivered 38 assists and posted nine digs defensively.

The Jaguars (6-15, 6-5) got 10 kills, five digs and five blocks from Arabella Hall in the match. Shelby Jolly and Ranaja Taylor put away nine kills each, with Taylor adding 13 digs. Vaterra Calais posted a double-double with 26 assists and 11 digs. Mariah Clayton added 13 digs, and Bailey Jefferson posted a team-pacing 21 digs.

Texas Southern 3, Jackson State 0 (25-17,25-20,25-20)  

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Three Texas Southern players posted double-digit kill totals as the Lady Tigers (12-8, 9-3 SWAC) downed Jackson State (4-23, 3-9 SWAC) at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome during day two of the Alabama State University-hosted SWAC Volleyball Roundup.

Cassidy Jannson paced TSU with 12 kills and five digs. Kirby Anderson and Alexis Austin posted 11 kills each, with Anderson figuring in on seven total blocks. Asia Howard dished 28 helpers, and Erin Adams led the defense with 12 digs.

Camry Dabney and Alexandra Burney each spiked 10 kills for Jackson State. Terri Irving (15) and Sapphire Simpson (10) combined for 25 assists, and Laura Funk posted six digs to lead JSU in the category.

Grambling State 3, Alcorn State 1 (22-25,25-22,25-13,25-19) 

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A 15-kill effort from Chasity Nicks powered Grambling State (11-19, 5-7 SWAC) to a four-set triumph over Alcorn State (3-34, 0-13) at Lockhart Gymnasium during day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup hosted by Alabama State University.

Kevreion Ward had an all-around match with eight blocks, seven kills and six digs for Grambling. Diemend Richardson led with 17 assists, and L'Murriel Thrower added 13 helpers to go with nine digs and three service aces. Defensively, Erineka Mollere led Grambling with 26 digs and chipped in four assists.

Octavia Dixon was a dig shy of a double-double, getting 12 kills and nine digs. Mae Lewis put up 10 kills and collected eight digs. Brittney Dumas dealt 22 assists, and Majesty Ferguson posted 12 assists. Pai Iosia put in a game-high 27 digs to go with two kills, two service aces and two assists.

Alabama A&M 3, Southern 0 (25-12,25-17,25-18)  

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Syretha Pride delivered 13 kills and eight blocks in leading Alabama A&M (11-16, 11-2 SWAC) to a three-set win over Southern (6-16, 6-6) in Lockhart Gymnasium during day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup.

Terra Brooks was a kill short of a double-double with 10 digs and nine spikes. Jaelin Gant posted seven kills and three blocks, and Courtney Oliver notched five kills and four blocks. Meredith Sieck served up 29 assists, and Cierra Davis led all Lady Bulldogs with 10 digs.

On Southern's side, Brianna Hawkins led with eight kills, adding six digs. Shelby Jolly added six kills. Vaterra Calais accounted for 15 assists, and Bailey Jefferson's 10 digs were tops among all Jaguar players.

Texas Southern 3, Mississippi Valley 0 (25-14,25-21,25-19)  

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Kirby Anderson scored 11 kills for Texas Southern (13-8, 10-3 SWAC) as the Lady Tigers notched their eighth-straight win, this one at the expense of Mississippi Valley State (6-22, 4-9) during day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Nicole Robinson and Alexis Austin posted eight kills each to aid the Lady Tigers' winning effort. Cassidy Jannson notched a team-best 14 digs to go with six kills. Asia Howard (19) and Breanna York (11) combined for 30 assists, and Howard had 12 digs. Nia Stone put up four kills and four blocks.

Taylor Selfridge recorded another double-double for the Devilettes with 12 digs and 10 kills. Kalin Barnes and Tylia Dixon each netted six kills, with Barnes picking up 12 digs. Jaime Polk led with 24 assists, tops among all players.

Alabama State 3, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 0 (26-24,25-19,25-16)  

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff to improve to 20-9 (13-0 SWAC) on the season to close day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup at ASU's Lockhart Gymnasium.

Bayle' Bennett led Alabama State with 13 kills and 11 digs, posting a double-double, while Briana Dorsey added 12 kills while hitting .429 with just three errors on 21 total attacks. Kori Kutsch reached the 20-assist plateau again as she recorded 24, while Justus Tuiolosega added 15. Asha Daniels led Alabama State with 22 digs, while Payten Clark had five blocks in the nightcap. Dorsey and Candace Martin each added three blocks in the win.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (7-17, 6-5 SWAC) got eight kills from Taylor Sheppy and Lisa Casimie. Britney Sahlmann posted 21 assists, five digs and three kills. Taylor Burrall made three solo blocks for the Lady Lions, and Jade Sanlin led with 10 digs.

Jackson State 3, Prairie View A&M 2 (25-21,26-24,13-25,21-25,17-15)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Jackson State (5-23, 4-9 SWAC) outlasted Prairie View A&M (3-17, 3-10) in a five-set affair to end day two of the SWAC Volleyball Roundup at Alabama State University in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

Amanda Modesto paced JSU with 13 kills. Alexandra Burney added 12 kills and 18 digs. Dayjah Stewart posted seven kills and seven blocks, and Camry Dabney put away nine kills. Terri Irving (26 assists, 11 digs, four kills) and Sapphire Simpson (15 assists, 12 digs) each recorded double-doubles, and Taylor Jackson marked up 12 digs.

Mariah Thomas notched 12 kills for the Lady Panthers, and Victoria Pearson recorded 11 to go with five digs and five blocks. Latrice Brown collected seven kills and six digs. Mykaeli Franklin posted 21 assists, six kills and six digs. Erica Jimenez dished out 20 assists and posted nine digs. Christen Augustine led all players with 33 digs.
