Houston Baptist 3, Prairie View A&M 0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-22)
PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Prairie View A&M fell to 3-13 following a three-set loss to Houston Baptist Wednesday night at the William J. Nicks Babydome.
Larissa Martinez led Prairie View offensively with six kills, adding four digs on the defensive end. Tatierra Johnson and Christen Augustine posted 11 digs each. Erica Jimenez put up nine assists, and Mykaeli Franklin chipped in eight helpers.
It was an night to forget for the Lady Panthers' attack, as they were outhit .208 - -.052. Bailey Banks led the Lady Huskies (17-6) charge with 16 kills.
After allowing a 14-5 start to set one en route to a 0-1 deficit, Prairie View was a bit stronger in set two, jumping out to a 6-4 lead. The advantage was short-lived as HBU put together an 18-7 run, ultimately claiming the second frame by double-digits.
The third set featured several lead changed and ties, and Prairie View took advantage of consecutive attack errors from HBU's Mikayla Vivens to go ahead 18-16. However, Vivens put down three straight kills to spark a 9-4 close to the match for the Lady Huskies.
