Sam Houston State 3, Prairie View A&M 0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-15)

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Prairie View A&M (3-11) dropped a non-conference match at Sam Houston State Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Panthers were outhit .271 -.038 in the contest, committing nearly as many attack errors (20) as kills (24). Meanwhile, Prairie View was unable to slow a Lady Kats' offense that put away 42 kills compared to 13 miscues.

Larissa Martinez spiked nine kills to pace the Lady Panthers. Taylor Goudeau added four kills. Mykaeli Franklin posted 10 digs, eight assists and two kills. Christen Augustine led PVAMU with 17 digs, and Erica Jimenez posted 11 assists.

Sam Houston State's Jordyn Vaughn put up 14 kills and 10 digs to lead the Lady Kats. Jaclyn Ward put up 31 assists and chipped in eight digs.

Prairie View briefly led in set one, but with the match 9-8 in favor of Sam Houston, the Lady Kats pulled away with a 16-8 scoring advantage the rest of the frame. This became the theme of the match, as Prairie View battled closely in the early stages of sets two and three only for the Lady Kats to put together runs that ultimately decided each set.
