Volleyball Players of the Week: September 19
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Grambling State’s Chasity Nicks and Erineka Mollere, Alabama State’s Kori Kutsch and Alcorn State’s Fiapaipai Iosia have been recognized as Southwestern Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week for their standout play from Sept. 12 -18.
Offensive Player of the Week – Chasity Nicks, Grambling State
OH | 5-9 | So. | Houston, Texas
Nicks tallied 73 kills, 52 digs, 12 block assists, six aces and three assists in six matches this week. She posted season highs in digs (15), kills (19) and points (20.5) all against Mississippi College in the Southern Arkansas Tournament. She also had double-digit kills against Southern Arkansas (11), University of Arkansas –Monticello (10) and Centenary College (17).
Defensive Player of the Week – Erineka Mollere, Grambling State

Mollere recorded 143 digs, 21 assists, four aces and two kills in six contests. She had a season-high 39 digs in the win over Centenary College and added 30 more against Mississippi College on Sept. 15. The junior is the only SWAC player to post 30 or more digs in a match this year, having done so twice. Mollere had double-digit digs in all six matches, including four matches with 20 or more digs.
Setter of the Week – Kori Kutsch, Alabama State

Kutsch led the team with 67 assists in three matches over the weekend at the Tulane Invitational, averaging 5.58 assists per set. She also finished with a pair of kills and five service aces offensively, to go along with 31 digs defensively (2.58 per set). The junior recorded 28 assists against North Florida and 23 against Northwestern State, while adding 16 against Tulane. She also finished with a pair of double-doubles to close the tournament on Saturday with 16 assists and 10 digs against Tulane, followed by 23 assists and 14 digs against Northwestern State.
Newcomer of the Week – Fiapaipai Iosia, Alcorn State
DS | 5-7 | Fr. | Long Beach, Calif.
Iosia set season highs with nine kills and six aces in the Match 2 win over Concordia (Ala.) Friday and a recorded a season-high 18 digs in the first loss at Williams Baptist on Monday. She added 16 digs in the second match of the doubleheader with the Lady Eagles. The Long Beach, Calif. native concluded the week with 25 kills, 60 digs, three blocks, and six assists.
