BATON ROUGE, La -- The LSU women’s tennis team got the 2018 season started with a pair of sweeps against Northwestern St. and Southern at the LSU Tennis Complex Saturday.

Freshman Eden Richardson and junior Jessica Golovin were the first to clinch a doubles match against Southern’s D’Jeri Raymond and Mia Kent 6-1, followed by a court three doubles win from first-time partners Luba Vasilyuk and Elyse Lavender against Nicki Neal and Rufaro Chirewa 6-1 to clinch the doubles point for LSU.

Golovin defeated Kent, Richardson beat Tanaka Chakanyuka and Lavender topped Chirewa as each picked up their second singles wins of the day in straight sets on courts four, three and one, respectively, to clinch the 4-0 win over the Jaguars.
