Alcorn State's Season Ends in First Round at NCAA Championships

AUBURN, Ala.- The No. 11 Auburn Tigers defeated the Alcorn State Braves women’s tennis team 4-0 in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships on Friday at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
Alcorn State finishes the season with a 13-16 record and 6-1 in SWAC action while Auburn advances to 23-7 for the season after putting together a 9-4 SEC record.
Auburn collected the doubles point after #8 duo Pleun Burgmans and Alizee Michaud defeated ASU’s Ekaterina Potapova and Sibohan Ryan-Bovey, 6-0, at the No. 1 doubles match. AU’s Alannah Griffin and Andie Dikosavljevic handed Aida Kelic and Ivana Boberic a 6-0 loss at the No. 2 doubles match.
In singles action, #70 Burgmans defeated Ryan-Bovey, 6-3, 6-0, in the No. 3 match. AU’s Alannah Griffin defeated Potapova, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 match while Caroline Turner defeated Marlene Maier, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 match.
