Softball Players of the Week: March 5
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Grambling State's Hailey Haynes and Alcorn State's Paige Taylor have been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's softball hitter and pitcher of the week following their standout efforts during games played from Feb. 27 - March 5.
Softball Hitter of the Week - Hailey Haynes, Grambling State

Haynes batted .533, slugged .867 and had an on-base percentage of .632 in five games. She went 8-for-15 at the plate with 10 RBIs and seven runs scored. She belted five doubles and drew four walks. Haynes went 2-for-2, with four RBIs and a pair of doubles in a 17-3 win over Texas College.
After her big week at the plate, Haynes currently leads the SWAC with six doubles and is second in the league with 11 RBIs.
Softball Pitcher of the Week - Paige Taylor, Alcorn State
P | 5-10 | Jr. | Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada
Taylor made two appearances this past weekend at the Mississippi State Tournament. She pitched a gem against Sam Houston State with a complete-game of 7.0 innings. Taylor allowed just one run to keep Alcorn within striking distance the entire game despite a 1-0 loss. On the weekend, Taylor registered a 2.42 ERA and limited the opposition to a .257 batting average.
